Hello!! and Welcome!!! My name is Cindy Ard. I am the Patient Educator and Office Manager here at Grand Strand Health and Wellness. I have been on staff since January 31, 2014. It is my pleasure, honor and delight to share information with our patients regarding how we can help them have happier and healthier lives.
I read some time ago that when one finds the position that allows them to provide for their family while helping others and thereby making the world a better place WITHOUT it feeling like work, that person has found their Dharma. Grand Strand Health and Wellness found me and from there I have absolutely found my Dharma. The only other thing I can say was said by Martin Rooney - - “You were not given talents to impress people. You were given those gifts to help people." It is my hope we will have the opportunity to see how we may help you.
A little about me: I was born and have lived my life in South Carolina, within a 2 hour radius of Murrells Inlet. I spent two years in Charlotte, NC as a young adult and loved it yet the beach is where my soul is happy. I graduated high school in the top of my class. After some years of finance and medical field work, I decided to return to school at Horry Georgetown Technical College. My goal was to become a cognitive behavioral therapist so I might help families and especially children have happier and healthier lives. Little did I know after the first two years of that plan would I realize it was my family I really wanted to help. I have a beautiful daughter, Tiffany, age 35 who has given me 3 grandchildren, Hannah, Kayla and Triston. I have an adult son, Kevin, age 32 who has also given me 3 grandchildren, Caleb, Aubrey and Bentley. I have a son, Sean, age 21 who I helped to grow into the fine young man he is though I did not birth him. Finally, I have a 9 year old son that God decided He would bless me with as a grand surprise at the great age of 44. Luke is a blessing (as are all of my children) and I delight in his energy and love on a daily basis. My husband, Jeff, is a kind and giving man who loves to cook (thank goodness) and is honestly my number one cheerleader. He enjoys telling folks who I am and what I love (THE GYM). He is not likely to join me there yet he loves talking about the crazy gym schedule I keep and how it has changed my life for the better.
January 2013, 1 year before arriving at Grand Strand Health and Wellness, I was 224 pounds, size 22 elastic waist pants and 3X shirt. Diabetes and heart disease runs in my family. As I mentioned God had blessed with me a precious son and on that grand day in my kitchen, it dawned me I was going to die prematurely from health issues if I did not get my weight and eating in check. That day my heart cracked open and my life began to change. The next day I called my chiropractor (as I had one intermittently for 20 years) because I knew if I was really going to do something different, I had to get in touch with my body and stop dragging it around like a wet load of laundry. Chiropractic does that for me. It helps me own (take responsibility for) my body. The rest of the story is history. 80 pounds and 100 inches lost in 10 months that I continue to maintain for past four years. If you ever have questions or need support staying mindful of your nutrition and exercise, it will be my pleasure to chat with you.
I will close in letting you know I am very active with women in my community as a mentor and being mentored in the arena of personal growth, emotional health and addiction. There is no shame in acknowledging these issues exist and demand attention to improve and change. Your life and my life is a gift given with the intention of being lived to the highest and fullest. As we say at the gym, come on...LET’S DO THIS THING !!!!!!
Erika Janitschek Front Desk Receptionist
My name is Erika Janitschek, some call me Erika Like America or Bluebird, and I originally hail from the great, yet snow-ridden state of New Jersey, where we do not pump our gas, and we do go "Down the Shore." I have always believed passionately that through education, one can have power and control over one’s wellbeing, so I fiercely and passionately strive to help people change their lives through health education and natural, holistic means of health. This core belief inspired me to pursue a degree in the field, which is what originally brought me to this area, but what KEEPS me here is our patients and my love for what we do here. I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Public Health from Coastal Carolina University, where I was an active member of Eta Sigma Gamma, the National Health Education Honor Society, the Smoke Free Horry County Coalition as well as the Executive committee for American Cancer Society.
I have always known since a young age that I wanted to help people and do good for that of the community, and in doing so I lead with my heart to do what I can to benefit others. Albert Einstein once said "Only a life lived for others, is a life worthwhile." And every day I am blessed to say, since February of 2015, working here at Grand Strand Health and Wellness, I can work towards fulfilling that mission. If you ever have any questions about what this practice can do for you or your friends and family, please do not hesitate to ask me as I will likely burst into song and dance about all the lives that have been changed, for which
I have been blessed to witness. This organization, is like no chiropractic office I have ever been to, and I have been an active chiropractic patient since age 16. I currently live in Surfside Beach, SC with my boyfriend Max, where you can usually spot us riding our bike, enjoying the beach, the gym, or plotting our next traveling adventure. I love to sing and I am also known to bust a tune or two either singing or whistling; often at the front desk or perhaps even on the phone when you call. I also enjoy animals, adventuring, telling bad jokes and really good food. I am always happy to hear our patients voices and my heart feels full being able to help you achieve wellness.
In March 2016, I got a call about a position at Grand Strand Health and Wellness. I was ecstatic. I accepted the position to be the Lines Coordinator and later on I got the opportunity to also be in charge of the Inventory. Being an employee here has changed me in many aspects of my life. I love how we all agree to disagree. I truly feel like God places special people in your life for a reason and being employed here has made me believe that more. It amazes me when I see most of the patients that come here in so much pain and still manage to have the brightest smile on their face and are determined to see results. Our patients absolutely love Dr. Crilley and Dr. Garner couldn't have come up with a better mission statement than the one we have. Part of it states, "Our number one overriding purpose is to serve you'' and that's exactly what we do here. As the late Maya Angelou said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel".
Beatrina Keel Therapy Chiropractic Assistant
Hi, My name is Beatrina Keel. I'm 29 years old. I was born in Germany; which makes me a "military brat". After my parents retired, we moved to Longs, SC where I was raised. From an early age I knew I wanted to help people. After graduating high school in 2005, I enrolled at the College of Charleston where I received my BS in Physical Education with a concentration of Exercise Science in 2009. After graduation I entered the work world and I also got other certificates that I was proud of: CNA, CPR, Medication Aide; to name a few.
I started working for GSHW in March 2017. Working for this company really helped me live out one of my life mottos: "If you love what you do, you won't ever work a day in your life." I get immense satisfaction if I can at least bring joy to one person I encounter throughout my day to day routine. One thing I love about our team is how versatile we all are and that we are more than willing to jump in to help each other and better serve our patients. As far as the patients I admire their willingness to learn about their condition and the persistence to not give up when the road doesn't "appear to be as easy". I absolutely love that I have a boss that appreciates my special talents and is willing to push me and the rest of the team to be at our best at all times. I couldn't ask for a better mission because it embodies what the founder and his team believe and try to impart onto our patients. I have a six year old Llhasa terrier mix by the name of Tootie that I received as a rescue. One personal "tidbit" about me that some might not know is my attention to detail, how I have a mind full of random information, and my love to travel and food. One thing you can't miss is my infectious laugh!
I am now the Laser Technician Chiropractic Assistant, and I enjoy every day of my job. I love the fact that in our mission statement the very first sentence is "to serve our patients and our community with a spirit of total caring." I love that our patients come into the office and are excited to see each of us. A few of our patients even told me that they looked forward to their next visit with us, because of the wonderful staff and our quality service.
My fellow staff members are all awesome. They show up each morning with smiles on their faces ready for whatever the day may bring. One of my favorite quotes comes from the Bible. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in truth. It always protects, trusts, hopes, and preserves. Love never fails" 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8.
